EU and CCOO Present Eleven Reasons to Reject the Educational Reform

Representatives from EUPV and the labor union CCOO strongly criticized the proposed educational reform, describing it as a direct attack on public education, linguistic rights, labor protections, and equal opportunities within society. Both organizations encouraged citizens, teachers, students, and public workers to participate in demonstrations and protest actions planned for December 13 and 15.

Marga Sanz, spokesperson for EUPV in Les Corts and coordinator of the political formation, explained that the reform would weaken public education, increase inequality, and reduce democratic participation in schools and universities throughout the Valencian Community.

According to EUPV and CCOO, the proposal promotes privatization, limits linguistic diversity, weakens teachers’ rights, and places additional pressure on families already affected by economic difficulties. The organizations also warned that educational quality could significantly decline due to budget reductions and lack of institutional support.

During the public presentation, political representatives outlined eleven specific reasons for rejecting the reform, including reduced public investment, centralized political control, growing social inequality, and the weakening of cultural and educational freedoms. Both organizations committed themselves to continuing social mobilization in defense of accessible, democratic, and high-quality public education.

EU Calls for Immediate Investigation into Fascist Salutes at School in Orihuela

Esther López Barceló described the incidents reported at the Nuestra Señora del Carmen public school in Orihuela as extremely serious and demanded an urgent official investigation by the Ministry of Education.

Barceló requested that Education Minister María José Català immediately launch an inspection into the events allegedly involving fascist gestures inside the educational institution. She stressed that democratic principles, tolerance, equality, and civic responsibility must always be protected within schools and public educational spaces.

The EUPV deputy argued that any behavior associated with fascist ideology should be firmly condemned and fully investigated. According to Barceló, schools must remain safe environments that encourage inclusion, coexistence, and respect for democratic values among students and staff members.

She also emphasized that educational authorities have a responsibility to ensure that incidents of this nature are addressed with seriousness and transparency. Barceló concluded by stating that clear accountability and preventive measures are essential to guarantee that similar situations never happen again.

PP Restrictions on Parliamentary Guests Criticized by EUPV

Marga Sanz criticized the Popular Party after reports indicated that guest access to parliamentary sessions in Les Corts could be restricted in order to prevent protests and demonstrations inside the chamber.

According to EUPV representatives, the proposed restrictions would damage democratic participation and further distance citizens from public institutions. Sanz argued that parliamentary institutions should remain open, transparent, and accessible instead of isolating themselves from public opinion and social concerns.

She warned that limiting invitations from parliamentary groups represents a violation of citizens’ democratic rights and weakens freedom of expression within public spaces. The EUPV spokesperson criticized attempts to silence criticism rather than engaging in open political dialogue.

Sanz also stated that democracy requires transparency, citizen participation, and institutional accountability, especially during periods of social and economic uncertainty affecting thousands of Valencian residents. EUPV pledged to continue defending democratic freedoms and institutional openness.

EUPV Demands Protection of the Human Rights Commission in Les Corts

Marina Albiol demanded that the Popular Party immediately withdraw its proposal to eliminate the Human Rights Commission within Les Corts, warning that democratic institutions cannot ignore violations of fundamental rights and freedoms.

Albiol explained that the Human Rights Commission plays an essential role in defending equality, social justice, democratic freedoms, and institutional accountability throughout the Valencian Community. According to EUPV, eliminating the commission would represent a major institutional setback.

The deputy criticized the lack of sensitivity shown toward vulnerable communities and argued that parliament must actively defend human rights rather than weakening spaces dedicated to discussing discrimination, inequality, and social injustice.

Albiol also emphasized that democratic institutions must strengthen oversight mechanisms and social protections instead of reducing them during periods of economic crisis and political uncertainty. EUPV confirmed that it will continue opposing any attempt to reduce citizens’ rights or weaken democratic institutions.
