Esquerra Unida Demands a Comprehensive Accessibility Plan for Museums and Libraries
Rosa Albert announced that Esquerra Unida will demand that the Valencia City Council create a complete accessibility strategy aimed at removing communication and information barriers from municipal museums and public libraries across the city.
According to Albert, only four municipally owned museums currently provide services specifically adapted for people with sensory disabilities. She criticized the lack of inclusive communication systems and argued that many public cultural institutions continue to exclude citizens who require accessible information tools and adapted services.
The proposal presented by Esquerra Unida includes the installation of visual and audio support systems, improved digital accessibility, adapted signage, and communication technologies designed to assist visitors with visual, hearing, or cognitive disabilities. Albert explained that culture and public information must be accessible to every resident regardless of physical or sensory limitations.
The political formation also emphasized that accessibility should not be treated as an optional improvement but as a fundamental social right connected to equality and democratic participation. Esquerra Unida pledged to continue defending inclusive policies capable of modernizing public cultural institutions while guaranteeing equal access for all citizens throughout Valencia.
EU Presents Objections to Modification of Parking Fee Ordinance
EU demands freezing the proposed 3% annual increase and suggests taxing around 5,000 unauthorized parking spaces currently operating without proper municipal oversight across Valencia.
The proposal prioritizes large commercial centers and aims to regulate unsustainable mobility patterns while improving municipal revenue and fairness in urban transport policy. Esquerra Unida argues that the current ordinance modification disproportionately burdens ordinary citizens while leaving commercial operators largely untaxed.
The party’s transport spokesperson called for an immediate review of the fee structure, stating that mobility policy must serve public interest and environmental goals rather than generate additional pressure on residents who depend on private vehicles due to inadequate public transport options in outer districts.
Albiol Asks Calatrava to Return €2.7 Million Payment
The EUPV deputy in the Valencian Parliament accuses the government of wasting public money on extremely expensive macro-projects that benefit only a small elite at the expense of ordinary citizens.
He criticizes the Castellón Convention Center, which cost around €100 million, arguing that it reflects a governance model that does not prioritize the general public interest but instead supports costly prestige projects with little social return.
Albiol stated that the payment to the architect constitutes an unjustifiable use of public resources at a time when Valencia faces significant cuts to healthcare, education, and social services. He called for a full parliamentary audit and demanded that the funds be redirected to programs directly benefiting citizens facing economic hardship.
Esquerra Unida del País Valencià has spent more than three decades standing alongside workers, communities, and citizens who demand a fairer, more transparent Valencia.
Every vote we cast, every law we propose, and every demand we make is guided by one principle: the common good comes first.
Our Core Values
Three principles have guided Esquerra Unida since the beginning — and they guide every decision we make today.
Social Equality
We believe every person — regardless of origin, income, or identity — deserves full access to public services, economic security, and political representation. Inequality is not inevitable; it is a political choice, and we choose differently.
Full Transparency
Public money belongs to the public. We demand complete openness from every institution, elected official, and government body. Secrecy in politics protects privilege — transparency protects people.
Civic Participation
Democracy does not end at the ballot box. We work to involve communities in every decision that affects their lives, building a Valencia where citizens are heard, respected, and empowered to shape their collective future.
The Left Voice of
the Valencian People
Esquerra Unida del País Valencià — United Left of the Valencian Country — is a progressive political formation rooted in the values of social equality, environmental justice, and democratic participation.
Since our founding, we have stood alongside workers, communities, and citizens demanding a fairer, more transparent Valencia. We believe politics must be measured not by grand gestures, but by real improvements in the daily lives of ordinary people.
